Wozniacki, Zvonareva land in Doha semis

Top seeds Caroline Wozniacki and Vera Zvonareva achieved quarterfinal success Thursday at the $721,000 Qatar Ladies Open.

The world No. 1 Wozniacki waltzed beat Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-2, 6-0, while the 2010 U.S. Open and Wimbledon runner-up Zvonareva was tested mightily before cooling off surging Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5. Zvonareva and Hantuchova battled for 3 hours, 9 minutes on Day 4.

Just two weeks ago, the veteran Hantuchova was a titlist in Thailand

The former U.S. Open runner-up Wozniacki is ready to face off her title last week in Dubai and will face former Wimbledon runner-up Marion Bartoli of France in Friday's semifinals in Doha.

"I was playing really good tennis," the Danish Wozniacki said after advancing on Thursday. "I stayed calm and had to go for my shots."
